Heron Walk Studio is owned and operated by Gary Charpentier. I studied Fine Arts at Southeastern Massachusetts University (now UMASS Dartmouth) and Painting, Sculpture and Ceramics at Cleveland Institute of Art with later studies at Boston Architectural Center  and RISD. Foregoing graduate studies in the Fine Arts I decided to pursue my interest in architecture and building by operating a design/build firm specializing in custom homes and additions emphasizing energy efficiency. Always maintaining a studio, I continued object making with painting, collage, sculpture, pottery and jewelry, at times showing and selling my work. The times in the studio provided a welcome meditative and play experience counter balancing the stricter work requirements of the building industry. At Heron Walk Studio, any given morning may offer the surprise  of a Great Blue or any number of egrets hunting the pond across the way, all curvy necks, angled legs and pointy beaks. This coupled with myriad colorful sunrises and sunsets across the Palmer River beyond provides energy and inspiration to my work. Now retired from building, I am currently offering painted and patinaed copper jewelry, sculptural candlesticks and paintings while I getting my hands back into clay. All are worked in a series though all are one-of-a kind.  As I continue to express creatively through these objects and materials, they exist to their own end. That they may bring visual, functional, emotional pleasure or meaning to those who would own them is even better. My online sales venue is in the works and should be live in early Spring 2026. In the meantime, my work can be seen and/or purchased by appointment. Please contact me at 401-569-1896  or heronwalkstudio@gmail.com.
